🧠 What is the System Sensor Y communicator for?

System Sensor Y is an alternative communication system for people with a profound disability. It lets them communicate, operate a computer and use the internet. It is an open communicator, which means the user can create and edit content themselves, matched to their own needs.

With System Sensor Y you can:

• operate a computer,
• use YouTube, e-mail and social media,
• write text messages and e-mails,
• express needs (for example "I want a drink", "I am tired"),
• call for help (for example by starting an alarm),
• edit your own communication boards and cards.
• control home equipment - a TV set, a set-top box or other IR devices.

🔍 Who is it for?

The communicator is intended for:

• people with quadriplegia,
• non-speaking people who can read or recognize symbols,
• users who want to operate a computer with a touch sensor, an air-flow sensor or a switch,
• therapists and caregivers supporting alternative communication.

🛠️ How does it work?

The user selects content with a sensor, moving through boards that hold cards with messages, pictures, texts and sounds. The program scans the available options and the user confirms their choice.

Cards can also:

• play a recorded sound,
• speak a message using a speech synthesizer,
• trigger actions, for example send a signal to a TV set or a set-top box,

Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 10, 11.

🖱️ Writing with an ordinary mouse - no control unit needed

Since August 2026 System Sensor Y can also work like the Windows on-screen keyboard. You click a letter with an ordinary mouse and the character goes where the cursor is: a text editor, a browser, e-mail or a messenger.

Writing with the mouse needs no control unit and no sensor. The program and a mouse are enough - the simplest way to start using the software, or to try it before buying a sensor.

Compared with the Windows on-screen keyboard:

• the keys are large and adapt to the screen, so they are easier to hit with a weakening hand,
• colours and contrast are set by you, which can be decisive when eyesight is failing,
• the key layout is your own - a board may hold whole words and phrases, not only letters,
• the program reads aloud what has been clicked,
• a white frame under the cursor shows which key the mouse is over.

Both ways work side by side on the same computer: the user works with the sensor and scanning on their own boards, while a carer or therapist writes with the mouse on theirs - with no settings to switch.

A word suggestion bar at the top of the screen - from version 43. While writing with the mouse the program shows a bar with ten suggested words matched to what has already been written. You click a suggestion and the whole word goes into the text, instead of typing it letter by letter. The bar takes its own strip at the top of the screen, so it covers nothing: a window that moves under it is pushed down and put back once the bar is hidden. It can also be switched on or off with a card of your own (the „Otwórz/Zamknij Okno Górne Słownika” action - open or close the top dictionary window), and the program remembers the choice: it starts the way it was closed.

Note: writing with the mouse works from version 42 of the program. With an older one the program will offer an update at start-up.
